What should I be growing?
You are probably already growing some fall crops (lettuce, greens). The Tower Garden technology is awesome and allows us to grow things in the summer we would not be growing if we were growing them in the ground. It is always a good idea to check out the Gardening Maps to get an idea of what you can be growing and when in your area. However, remember that the Tower Garden extends your growing season and you can extend it even further with a pop up greenhouse, submersible heater and some other tips we’ll cover in a blog post in the next few weeks.
Here is a list of some of the most popular things you can start (or continue) to grow through the fall/winter, depending on your location. There are many others that can be added to this list. Feel free to add your favorite to the comments section below.
- Asian Greens
- Brussel Sprouts
- Cauliflower (The leaves get very big and take a long time so we do not grow them)
- Broccoli (The leaves get very big and take a long time so we do not grow them)
- Mustard Greens
It may still be too warm in some parts of the country to get some of these seeds to germinate successfully. You may want to start those inside and immediately move them outside when the seed cracks open. Alternatively, you can start them under a 2ft grow light.
